Lexus LF-A Sets New Ring Record
Lexus has once again showed the world that it deserves to be ranked with the high performance European sports cars after setting a lap record time of 7 minutes and 24 seconds at Nurburgring and in the process beating the set record time of Pagani Zonda F with 7 minutes and 27 seconds. The all-new Porsche 911 GT2’s record which according to AutoBild was 7:32 while AutoExpress reported 7:25 was also slashed.
For years the German Nurburgring has been used to measure the performance of sports car and now with the coming of Japanese sports cars European automakers are feeling the heat. Nissan and Lexus has started offering their GT-R and LF-A sports cars to go head-to-head with European sports cars.
Last September, the Nissan GT-R lapped the Nurburgring in 7 minutes and 38 seconds close to beating the time set by the Porsche 997 GT3. Honda is also reported to be working on a 5.0 liter V10 powered NSX---something for us to watch out for.
